Pediatric Emergency Medicine
"Kids are not little adults."

We have all heard this statement multiple times, and even for a pediatrician like myself, the phrases gets annoys me. It is clear to all of us that pediatric patients are not little adults. But it is also clear that geriatric patients are old adults and patients with diabetes are merely adults with high glucose levels. Every specific patient population carries with it specific and unique characteristics that potentially affect the health and the medical conditions that need to be considered.
So it is incumbent for all of us to do our best to stay current with all of the unique aspects of pediatric patients just as it is necessary for us to consider the specific characteristics that are unique to other patient populations.
I hope that this section will enable you to not only stay current on topics, but also become even more comfortable with the management of pediatric patients.
Please contact me with any questions/concerns/feedback.
